G3 Hamilton – Hulls Bin Addition
G3 Canada Limited commissioned FWS Group to expand their grain storage capabilities at the G3 Hamilton terminal in Ontario. The project, executed using a design-build delivery method, involved the addition of new infrastructure to enhance storage capacity and operational efficiency. This expansion was crucial for accommodating increased grain throughput and improving overall facility functionality.
The scope of work for the G3 Hamilton – Hulls Bin Addition project included several key components:
- Addition of Two New Hopper Bins: The project introduced two new commercial hopper bins, each with a diameter of 20 feet 11 inches. Positioned on either side of the existing bulk weigher tower, these bins significantly increased the terminal’s storage capacity.
- Increased Storage Capacity: The new bins added a total of 805 metric tonnes (MT) of storage capacity, accommodating free-flowing grain products with a density of 48 lbs per cubic foot. This expansion was essential for managing larger volumes of grain and improving storage efficiency.
- L-Shaped Reclaim Conveyors: Newly installed L-shaped reclaim conveyors were incorporated to facilitate the movement of grain from the new bins. These conveyors are designed to efficiently handle grain transfer, ensuring smooth operations and reducing potential delays in product handling.
The design-build approach streamlined the project delivery process, allowing for efficient coordination between design and construction phases. The addition of the hopper bins and conveyance equipment enhances the G3 Hamilton terminal’s ability to manage and process grain, supporting the terminal’s growth and operational needs effectively.
