Project Overview

FWS Group partnered with Proton Technologies Inc. to complete the 10-14 Satellite Well Tie-in, a critical infrastructure project aimed at integrating the well into the broader production network. This tie-in facilitated the efficient transport and management of produced emulsion (PE) and gas (PG), enhancing the well's overall operational efficiency and safety. The project was meticulously designed to meet both regulatory and technical requirements, ensuring long-term reliability in handling gas and fluid production.

The scope of work for this project included several key components designed to ensure optimal performance and safety:

  • Flex piping at the wellhead: Installed to provide flexibility in handling the varying pressures and temperatures encountered during production, offering adaptability to changing operational conditions.
  • 3” produced emulsion (PE) and gas (PG) lines: These 3-inch lines were installed to efficiently transport the produced materials from the well to the processing facility. The design ensures the smooth flow of fluids and gases, reducing the risk of bottlenecks.
  • Line insulation and electronic heat trace (EHT): To maintain temperature stability along the pipelines, EHT was incorporated, protecting the system from temperature drops that could impact flow rates, particularly in colder climates.
  • Metering on PE and PG lines: Installed according to regulatory requirements, these meters provided accurate measurements of both emulsion and gas flow, ensuring compliance and allowing for precise monitoring.
  • Emergency shut down valve (ESDV) and pressure control valve (PCV): These were placed on the PG line to allow for immediate shut-down in case of emergencies and to manage pressure levels within safe operating limits.
  • Instrumentation: The project included the installation of pressure indicator transmitters (PIT), temperature measuring elements (TE), and temperature indicator transmitters (TIT) on both the PE and PG lines. These instruments enable real-time monitoring, ensuring that the system is operating within safe parameters.
  • Additional safety features: Vents, drains, chemical injection valves, and tie-ins were installed to support safe operation and provide flexibility for future upgrades or system expansions.
  • Design registration with the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan: The entire design was registered to comply with the stringent safety regulations of Saskatchewan, ensuring the system met all legal and safety standards.

This well-executed tie-in project has provided Proton Technologies Inc. with a reliable and compliant solution for managing the production flow from the 10-14 Satellite Well, contributing to operational efficiency and safety across their production network.
