Project Overview

FWS Group was tasked with the construction of specialized concrete storage tanks for coke and alumina, designed to support efficient material handling and storage at a high-capacity facility. This project focused on building robust infrastructure to manage the storage and retrieval of both fresh alumina and calcined coke.

The scope of work for the Coke/Alumina Concrete Storage Tanks project included the following key features:

  • 20,000 Tonne Concrete Slipform Silo for Fresh Alumina Storage: A large slipform concrete silo with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes was constructed specifically for the storage of fresh alumina. This silo provides a durable and secure environment for the material, ensuring proper containment and minimizing contamination.
  • 10,000 Tonne Concrete Slipform Silo for Calcined Coke Storage: Another slipform concrete silo was built with a capacity of 10,000 tonnes for storing calcined coke. This silo is designed to handle the specific requirements of calcined coke storage, including durability and resistance to the material’s properties.
  • Concrete Reclaim Tunnels: The project included the construction of concrete reclaim tunnels designed to facilitate the efficient retrieval of stored materials. These tunnels provide a controlled and streamlined process for accessing the stored alumina and coke, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Sloped Bin Bottoms: The silos feature sloped bin bottoms, which aid in the smooth flow of materials towards the reclaim tunnels. This design helps prevent material clumping and ensures efficient discharge and handling of both alumina and coke.

The Coke/Alumina Concrete Storage Tanks project demonstrates FWS Group’s capability in delivering complex infrastructure solutions tailored to the needs of the materials handling industry. The facility’s robust design and advanced features support the efficient storage and management of key industrial materials, contributing to overall operational effectiveness and reliability.
