Inland Grain Terminal
The Inland Grain Terminal, situated in Colonsay, represents a significant development in agribusiness and ag-industrial infrastructure. This design-build project focused on the creation of a state-of-the-art grain terminal with a robust storage and handling system. The facility is equipped to manage large volumes of grain efficiently, integrating modern design and construction techniques.
Project Features:
- Total Storage Capacity: The terminal boasts a total storage capacity of 42,122 metric tonnes (MT). This extensive capacity supports substantial grain storage needs, ensuring efficient handling and management of large quantities.
- Silos and Bins: The facility includes 6 concrete silos and 3 steel bins. The concrete silos are designed using slipform construction techniques, offering durability and long-term performance for grain storage.
- Receiving and Loadout Capacity: The terminal is equipped for high-efficiency operations with a receiving capacity of 680 metric tonnes per hour (MTPH) and a loadout capacity of 1,600 MTPH. These capacities ensure quick and effective processing of incoming and outgoing grain.
- Cleaning Capacity: The facility features a grain cleaning system with a capacity of 160 metric tonnes per hour (MTPH). This system ensures the quality and purity of the grain by removing impurities before storage or shipping.
- Advanced Rail Infrastructure: The terminal includes a state-of-the-art 134-car loop track, designed for efficient rail car loading and unloading. This feature enhances the terminal's capability to handle large volumes of grain and supports seamless logistics operations.
The Inland Grain Terminal project highlights FWS Group’s expertise in designing and constructing advanced grain handling facilities. The integration of modern technologies and efficient infrastructure contributes to the terminal’s effectiveness in managing grain storage, processing, and distribution, supporting the broader agribusiness sector.
