As the curtains draw on another year, we take pride in reflecting on the collective efforts that have shaped our community engagement initiatives in 2023. At the core of our values lies a dedication to making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need and this year has been no exception.

Healthcare and Children’s Organizations Support

This year’s Employee Giving Campaign has been dedicated to fostering positive change by supporting the Special Olympics—an organization that has consistently transformed the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports. Thus far, our collective efforts have resulted in a significant achievement, with a remarkable $20,000 raised in support of this noble cause. Explore the details of our campaign in this blog.

On top of the Special Olympics, FWS made a substantial impact in the healthcare sector this year. Donations were directed towards various hospitals and organizations, including St. Boniface Hospital (towards their emergency rooms), Health Science (towards their plastic surgery unit), Alberta Children’s Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital and more.

Meanwhile, our support for children and family organizations also benefitted initiatives like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Kids Help Phone, the Samantha Mason Foundation and more.

Uniting Offices for a Charitable Cause

This holiday season, our offices and job sites across Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg are uniting to make a positive impact on the lives of those less fortunate. Our Vancouver and Calgary offices are supporting local food banks—Surrey Food Bank and Calgary Food Bank, respectively—collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations. Our job sites are actively participating, contributing to local charities such as Yorkton Lighthouse Food Bank & Care Centre and Surrey Food Bank.

In Winnipeg, the focus is on partnering with Ronald McDonald House Manitoba for their Holiday Pantry Drive. Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a home away from home for families with children requiring care or treatment at nearby hospitals. This collaboration reinforces our dedication to community welfare.

Our commitment to making a positive impact is an ongoing journey. We pledge to persist in our efforts, exploring new avenues and expanding our reach to create lasting change.
