Last month, we began our 2023 Employee Giving Campaign, aimed to make a positive impact by supporting the Special Olympics, an organization that has been transforming the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities through the power of sports. Their mission is to create inclusive communities where everyone, regardless of ability, is accepted and celebrated. Through a series of engaging activities and fundraising initiatives, we joined hands with the Special Olympics to uplift our community and create lasting change. 

 

Scoring Big for Special Olympics 

 

The heart of our campaign began with a thrilling Street Hockey Tournament held at our Winnipeg office parking lot. Employees enthusiastically participated, forming teams and showcasing their hockey skills while raising funds for the Special Olympics. The tournament was an incredible display of teamwork, camaraderie and community support. Each player contributed a registration fee of $20, with every dollar dedicated to empowering Special Olympics athletes. 

 

Spreading The Giving Spirit 

 

In addition to the Street Hockey Tournament, employees took part in an exhilarating series of 50/50 draws. The proceeds from these draws were entirely dedicated to supporting the initiatives and programs of the Special Olympics. The opportunity to participate in the 50/50 draws was open to all FWS employees, allowing everyone to contribute towards the cause and potentially win exciting cash prizes. 

 

Empowering Change Through Employee Giving 

 

We also facilitated contributions from employees through a convenient pledge form, making it easy for everyone to contribute and make a difference. Employees had various options to enter the draw: a pledge of $100 granted one entry, while a pledge of $130 or more rewarded participants with two entries.  

 

This particular initiative offered exciting prizes to incentivize participation and support for the cause. The grand prize offered a $1,000 gift card from a selection of esteemed stores, allowing the recipient to indulge in a well-deserved shopping spree. The second prize consisted of a $500 gift card, providing another opportunity to enjoy a memorable shopping experience. As an early bird prize, we offered employees two of the company’s Winnipeg Jets tickets to witness them in action, adding an extra layer of excitement to the campaign. 

 

During the kick-off month, our collective efforts resulted in an astounding $21,712.72 raised for Special Olympics’ Active Start and Fundamentals programs. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all team members who participated, donated and contributed to this worthy cause, reaffirming our belief in the transformative power of sports and community support. Let’s carry this spirit of giving in all we do as we continue to make a positive difference together. 

 

Our commitment to supporting the Special Olympics doesn’t end with the Employee Giving Campaign. Moving forward, we have exciting plans to continue our support through various initiatives throughout the year. We are dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of Special Olympics athletes and creating positive change.
