Why Early Involvement Matters: The Role of FEED

The Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) stage is a critical phase where we work with clients to define the scope of their projects. Our conceptual design team works closely with clients to understand their goals and develop clear project outlines. This phase allows for a clearer understanding of what is required before construction, allowing for more accurate planning and cost estimation.

Flexibility in 2D and 3D Design

We offer the flexibility to work in both 2D and 3D design formats, depending on the project's requirements and stage of development. For initial planning purposes, a 2D design is often faster and more efficient. Using general design elements, we can create a concept that outlines capacity and throughput. This allows for quicker pricing estimates while providing the necessary information for early-stage decision-making.

However, for projects that require a higher degree of accuracy and detail, we can shift to 3D modeling. This method offers greater precision and is particularly useful for more complex designs. 3D models can also help visualize elements such as maintenance access and constructability in a virtual environment, especially if the project involves integrating with existing facilities.

Reducing Cost Uncertainty

Engaging us early in the process benefits both sides. With a rough idea of your project, we can lock in more accurate cost estimates before a contract is signed. This is especially important for areas that present significant cost uncertainty. By spending some time upfront in preliminary design work, we can define the scope more clearly, removing cash allowances and providing you with more certainty about the overall costs. While some areas may still need further refinement, the FEED stage allows us to give you a much better understanding of what your project will involve.

Integrated Design-Build Approach

As an integrated design-build company, we streamline the entire process, from initial design to construction. Unlike traditional engineering firms that focus solely on design with limited involvement from those who will be a part of the construction, we consider both aspects from the start. This integration brings a deeper understanding of how the project will come together. Our team focuses on creating designs that are not only fundamentally sound but also constructible in the real world, streamlining timelines and increasing efficiency. We understand how each construction phase will unfold, which allows us to provide more realistic timelines and cost estimates early in the FEED stage.

The FEED stage is ideal for communicating your project’s needs and expectations. We’ll work with you from start to finish, ensuring the end product aligns with your vision. Reach out to us to start your project and benefit from our integrated approach to design and construction.
