Halloween Safety
October 31, 2022
Halloween is a fun and exciting holiday, for not just the kids but all those involved (especially the parents who get to “sample” the candy). To ensure everyone stays safe on this spooktacular holiday, follow some of these Halloween safety tips for the whole family, (including the pets):
- Wear reflective clothing as much as possible – Even the family pet should be on a leash up and visible!
- Ensure costumes fit over clothing appropriate for the weather, and avoid long hemlines that could cause a slip, trip or fall.
- Inspect the treats to remove any homemade items, open candy, or suspicious items (and don’t let the dog eat the chocolate!)
- If the kids are going out on their own, get an itinerary (have them carry a cell phone if possible or even a walkie-talkie)
- Avoid walking on the roads and use sidewalks where possible
- For adults, don’t consume alcohol and drive
- At home handing out candy: Keep the lights well lit. Shovel walkways or paths and remove obstructions.
Halloween is a fun time of year, but remember you can still have fun while being safe!
