COVID-19: Safe Work Practices
As you all are aware, the World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared coronavirus (COVID-19) a global pandemic. As the situation continues to evolve, the health and safety of our employees, clients, vendors, and other visitors is our first priority and will guide our response to this outbreak.
FWS Management is meeting regularly to manage the impact of COVID-19 as it evolves. We will continue to closely monitor guidance provided by WHO, Public Health Agency of Canada, and other local health agencies in the provinces where we conduct business.
We would like to take the opportunity to provide you with an update and summary of the preventative measures FWS has implemented to mitigate against health and safety risks, and the risk of business interruption resulting from this pandemic.
These preventative measures and safe work practices include, but are not limited to, the following:
Personal Hygiene
We are reminding employees to practice good hygiene by handwashing frequently with soap and water, as well as using alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Site Cleaning and Sanitation
Sites are being cleaned and disinfected frequently.
Social Distancing (Field)
We are breaking field crews into smaller work crews (ideally no more than two to five), as well staggering lunch/coffee breaks to strive for a maximum number of 15 at a time.
Social Distancing (Offices)
We are setting up a work from home program for a number of positions, thereby creating additional social distance in offices for those that remain.
International Travel
A moratorium on international travel has been imposed and anyone returning from international travel must self-isolate for the recommended 14 days.
Domestic Air Travel
Only essential domestic air travel is permitted at this time.
Visitor Access
We are restricting visitor access to our worksites.
Assessing Symptoms
All employees are to self-assess daily for symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, difficulty breathing) and if they start having symptoms, they are required to isolate from others and immediately call the public health authority.
Meetings
All meetings going forward are to be held via Skype or conference call.
It is our goal to keep our employees, clients, partners, and other visitors safe during this difficult time while striving to maintain progress on projects for our valued clients. As conditions are ever changing, we will do our best to update you. Please do not hesitate to reach out, should you have any questions or concerns.
